Jeff Lynne's ELO Reveal 'Alone in the Universe' LP

British prog illuminators Electric Light Orchestra have spawned a couple of spin-off bands over the years, including the '90s incarnation ELO Part II and the post-millennial project the Orchestra. Now, there's a new album coming from another incarnation of the group, this one called Jeff Lynne's ELO.

The new album is called Alone in the Universe, and it's due out on November 13 through Columbia Records. This is the first new ELO music since 2001's Zoom.

Naturally, Jeff Lynne's ELO are led by songwriter and frontman Jeff Lynne, who has served as the primary creative force behind ELO since the early '70s. Live shows from the project have also featured ELO keyboardist Richard Tandy, although he isn't mentioned in a press release so it's unclear if he played a part in Alone in the Universe.

Lynne said in a statement, "Music is such a powerful force in our lives. A good song can make people feel much less alone in this universe. And trying to create one of those songs somehow makes me feel less alone too. My whole life — from being that kid with a dream in Birmingham right until today — proves how much music can do."

Below, hear the Beatles-esque single "When I Was a Boy." This song will come as an instant download with pre-orders, which will be available as of this Friday (September 25).
