Jason Collett has curated his Basement Revue Series for the past three years, so it's no surprise to learn that the songwriter will be bringing it back for a fourth go-around this December. In keeping with tradition, Collett will host shows on every Tuesday of the month at Toronto, ON's Dakota Tavern.
An announcement on Collett's official website says that he will "present an impressive collection of musicians, songwriters, authors, poets, storytellers and friends." Collett will host the first three performances himself, turning it over to a special guest host for the final night (December 28).
The lineup is currently unknown, since "each night's performers will remain a surprise to the audience until the night of, adding to the inherent and infectious spontaneity of each show." But you can be sure that Collett will be bringing out an impressive cast of artists; previous years' performers include K-os, Hayden, Buck 65, Julie Doiron and Luke Doucet, plus members of Broken Social Scene, Metric, Constantines, the Weakerthans, Rheostatics and more.
Seventy-five tickets will be released before each performance: 25 at Rotate This, 25 at Soundscapes and 25 at GalleryAC.com.
The Basement Revue Series will be the culmination of a busy year for Collett, which included three new releases: the LP Rat a Tat Tat, the EP To Wit To Woo and stripped-down collection Pony Tricks. He is currently in the midst of a cross-Canadian tour. See all of the dates below.
