Japandroids Unveil New Seven-Inch Series

BY Stephen CarlickPublished Feb 11, 2010

After almost breaking up, Vancouver, BC garage pop duo Japandroids spent 2009 basking in the critical praise that followed their debut LP, Post-Nothing. But so far, 2010 has been relatively quiet for the band, making news of some new releases exciting indeed.

In a suitably punk rock fashion, the band will deliver a series of limited-edition seven-inch singles this year while they are on tour. There will be a total of five singles, each one limited to 2,000 copies (although they will all be available digitally, as well), with a previously unreleased track from the Post-Nothing sessions on the A-Side and a cover tune on the flip.

According to the band's press release, they "devised the 7" series as a way to give something back to their fans while the band is in the midst of heavy touring and unable to record a full album. Each two-song 7" will be recorded during the brief period of time the band is at home between tours."

The first single is "Art Czars," which you can download here. It's backed by a cover of Big Black's "Racer X," with the release being pressed on clear vinyl and available April 13. You can pre-order it here.

In the meantime, check out the band's lengthy tour schedule to see when they're dropping by your town.
