Jack White has his very own pressing plant as the head of Third Man Records, and this week, Metallica announced that they too have bought a vinyl plant. Now, White has spoken out to praise the move, while Metallica have said that they are "psyched to follow in [his] footsteps."

On Instagram, White posted a photo of Metallica and congratulated them on the purchase of Furnace Record Pressing in Virginia. He wrote, "Welcome to the cause gents! And thank you for putting your money to amazing creative use! Here's hoping the major labels will also see this as further proof, and finally start investing in themselves. Outstanding."

Metallica responded to White in a comment on his post, writing, "So unbelievable and grateful to be able to do this after all these years. Who would've thought that this was even possible back in the day?! You have pioneered all of this, and we're psyched to follow in your footsteps!"

Last year — on March 14, coincidentally one year to the day before Metallica bought their own plant — White called on major labels to open their own vinyl pressing plants as a way to keep up with demand.

White has been everywhere lately, having played SNL before beating a random stranger at rock paper scissors. Meanwhile, the White Stripes have been in the discourse this week, with people dredging up the old debate about whether Meg White was a good drummer.
