Jack Layton's Death Sparks Tributes from Tegan and Sara, Broken Social Scene, Billy Bragg

Today (August 22), Canadians woke up to the sad news that NDP leader Jack Layton passed away early this morning after losing his battle with cancer. Unsurprisingly, given the sudden death of such a beloved public figure, the Twitter tributes have been pouring in from around the world.

Many musicians have taken to the internet to express their sadness at the loss of the Canadian politician. Below, we have collected some of the tributes:
