Jack Johnson to Record Live Album for Third Man Records

Over the past few years, Jack White's Third Man Records has attracted an eclectic range of musicians and comedians to its Nashville facility to record live albums, but here's one performer we definitely didn't anticipate: this Saturday (June 15), Hawaiian folk strummer Jack Johnson will swing through for a breakfast concert and a live album.

This gig is being billed as a family-friendly affair, and an announcement promises, "Jack and his beachy tunes have been bringing a piece of the big, blue sea to both grown-ups and not-quites for over a decade, and we have no doubt he will feel right at home doing just that in our big, blue room."

The show will go down at 10:30 a.m. local time and will be recorded direct-to-acetate. Anyone who buys tickets will automatically get a pre-order copy of the live album on black and blue split-colour vinyl. It's unclear exactly what the record's availability will be for folks not in attendance, since Third Man's releases can be rather limited.

Keep your eyes peeled to Third Man's online store in case this one goes on sale the public. Otherwise, you might need to scour eBay to find what you're looking for.

Jack Johnson's latest album, From Here to Now to You, will drop on September 17 through Brushfire Records. The new single "I Got You" is streaming below.
