Celebrated Icelandic composer Jóhann Jóhannsson passed away earlier this year, and it's now been revealed that his final score will see release this September.

Jóhannsson's score for BC filmmaker Panos Cosmatos' forthcoming Nicolas Cage-starring horror film Mandy will see release through Lakeshore/Invada on September 14. You can hear a taste of what's to come from the score with "Children of the New Dawn" in the player below via Pitchfork.

The Mandy score was co-produced by Randall Dunn and features Sunn O)))'s Stephen O'Malley on guitar. Cosmatos — whose previous film was Beyond the Black Rainbow — wrote about Jóhansson's work on the film in a press release:

Jóhann went above and beyond, and I suspect to the limits of his sanity, to make the music for this movie. His words and his actions made him more than a great collaborator, they made him like a brother to me. I'm sad our time together was so brief but I'm very proud of what he accomplished on Mandy and I believe he was too.

Jóhannsson passed away on February 9 in Berlin at age 48. His cause of death has not been publicly revealed.
