With much of the world on lockdown over COVID-19, we need music more than ever, and for now, that means music at home. Helping us stay sane while inside is now Sonor Music Editions, which will be opening its vaults for a weekly livestream series.
Based in Italy — the hardest hit nation by the coronavirus pandemic — Sonor has built its reputation on bringing the world some of the country's most overlooked and hidden soundtrack and library gems. These include works by the likes of Alessandro Alessandroni, Piero Piccioni, Alberto Baldan Bembo and Giuliano Sorgini, among many others.
Now Sonor will be opening up its treasure trove of musical goodies each week as we all try to get through this thing together.
As Sonor explains, "As many people worldwide are blocked at home due to the spread of COVID-19, our team decided to create a weekly appointment every Friday at 6 p.m. CEST where we open the doors of our studio and play one of the master tape of our archive."
The first "appointment" is set for Friday (March 27), with a livestream of Filippo Rizzuto's Animazione, Fiabe, Avventure, which was recorded in 1974 for the Nike library microlabel. The album is described as "a refined avant-garde music for magical adventures, mystic scenarios and abstract situations. Static, lively and harmonic themes for fairy-tale scenesetters."
To join in, head to either Sonor's Instagram or Facebook at 6 p.m. CEST (or 1 p.m. ET) tomorrow, and each Friday after that.
