Isis and Red Sparowes Offshoot Windmills by the Ocean Plot Second Album

In 2006, the Robotic Empire imprint released the self-titled debut by the crushing, mostly instrumental drone group Windmills by the Ocean. The group, who recorded the album in 2003, included alumni of 27, Anodyne and, most notably, Isis/Red Sparowes member Bryant Clifford Meyer. Now, the label has announced that it will be following up the album with a sophomore release.

Fittingly titled II, the second release from Windmills by the Ocean will feature vocals more prominently. As a press release explains, the album is "awash in waves of droney guitars, lush melodies and vocals" as "the band reaches far beyond the limits of post-rock with five varied tracks that are at times haunting, captivating, oppressive and triumphant."

Robotic Empire will release II on February 1. The album is available for pre-order now here. The label will also reissue Isis's seminal album Oceanic on vinyl on the same day. That Isis release can be pre-ordered here.
