Icy Demons

The identity of Athens, GA’s Icy Demons is a mystery that is left up to only those who can recognise them from their wacky photo on the web site or by their cryptic names (Blue Hawaii, Pow Pow, Young Master Schneider, Thousand Rabbits Running and Moylando Calrissian). Their debut album, Fight Back, certainly leaves few clues other than a possible connection to the Elephant 6 collective, considering the ties that bind them to the Cloud record label. Icy Demons create a boundless world of free jazz, experimental pop and psychedelia that never really sets much of a pace throughout its complex entirety. The capabilities of mind expansion alone make it an interesting listen, yet the beautifully illustrated artwork of the record is helpful in signifying the vivid colours that run in the music.
