Hot Nerds

"More Lube on the Frontal Lobe"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Jan 26, 2016

Hot Nerds are about to unleash their latest EP Generic Plans for a New Blunder next month, but to add to the excitement ramping up to its release, Exclaim! has got your first listen to a new song called "More Lube on the Frontal Lobe."

The upcoming EP marks a maturation in the band — both sonically and album title-wise — since the release of their last LP Strategically Placed Bananas. Frontman Nathan Joyner intentionally sought out an "anti-guitar" sound on the new material, serving up heaping helping of fuzzed-out distortion. He's backed by the synth manipulator Alia Jyawook and Tommy O'Connell, who team up to fill out the fast-paced aural assault.

Striking a balance between musically interesting and aggressive, "More Lube on the Frontal Lobe" mashes up pummelling percussion, ominously warbling synths and strangled shouts to grab the listener and give them a good shake-up.

Give in to the gripping sound by giving "More Lube on the Frontal Lobe" a spin in the player below.

Generic Plans for a New Blunder is due out on February 12 via Three One G.
