Homeshake Returns with 'Midnight Snack,' Shares New Track
Published Jun 18, 2015Edmonton-born, Montreal-based music maker Peter Sagar used to back Mac DeMarco on guitar, but he stepped into the spotlight as Homeshake with the release of his debut LP In the Shower last year. Now, he's announced plans to follow it up with a new full-length.
Titled Midnight Snack, Homeshake's sophomore effort will arrive this September via Sinderlyn.
The new record was recorded over the winter with Jackson MacIntosh at Montreal studio Drones Club. It hears Sagar taking his sound in a more electro-tinged direction, swapping out guitars for synthesizers and a drum machine, as well as incorporating vocal loops.
In addition to citing influences like electronic musicians Chip E and Mr. Fingers, and Japanese pop stars like Chiemi Manabe, a press release describes Midnight Snack as "an eclectic tangle of personal anecdotes steeped in an everlasting reverence of D'Angelo and R. Kelly."
You can get your first taste of what that sounds like on the drowsy, synthed-out new single "Heat." Scroll past the album's tracklisting and string of just-announced upcoming North American tour dates to give it a listen in the player at the bottom of the page.
