Hollerado Detail '111 Songs,' Share New Tracks

Following the release of 2013's White Paint, fun-loving power-pop combo Hollerado set out to create a massive pile of customized songs for fans who pre-ordered the album. They recently announced plans to share the material with the world under the banner 111 Songs, and now they've officially detailed the project.

The package will be released on March 24. In the meantime, fans can hear the single "Firefly (Annie Murphy)" below. As the title indicates, it was written for pre-order customer Annie Murphy, who just so happens to be frontman Menno Versteeg's wife. A press release explains that he wrote the song for her after a fire destroyed their Toronto condo last year.

Some of the songs are directly about the person who ordered the songs, while others are inspired by facts about the buyer. Along with "Firefly," listen to "Bottomless Pit (Stephanie Green)" and "Sorry You're Alright (Evan from Grimsby)" at the bottom of the page.

All the songs will come out on iTunes. After that, a couple of the songs will be pressed on a glow-in-the-dark 7-inch, which will come out on Record Store Day (April 18).

In more serious news, guitarist Nixon Boyd — who is also a member of Stella Ella Ola — has been battling testicular cancer as of late. He underwent surgery, and he has luckily beaten the disease.

Meanwhile, Hollerado are planning to enter a New York studio on February 9 to record their third album. Some of the material from 111 Songs will be revisited during the sessions.
