Published Jan 22, 2010Well, Manotick, ON foursome Hollerado apparently have it in the bag with their debut album, Record in a Bag. Due out February 9, the record is being self-released through the band's Royal Mountain Records, with Arts & Crafts helping with distribution. And while the press release doesn't give us much in terms of what to expect, sound-wise, from the record, there are quite a few details about the imaginative packaging.
Being released on CD, digitally and on vinyl, the record is being packaged inside a Ziploc baggie (well, not the MP3 version, of course), and will be jam-packed full of goodies. Included with the release will be hand-written notes, fortunes, lottery tickets, a mini-record in a bag, with bonus tracks, and other surprises. There will also be a chance to win "All-You-Can-Hollera-DO," which apparently includes free Hollerado shows for a year, free T-shirts, beer and vinyl. To get a better idea of what's going into this, the band have made a video, which you can watch here.
After winning a $250,000 grand prize in an Ottawa radio station contest this past December, the indie rockers embarked on the last leg of their "Half World Tour," which included trips to countries such as Brazil, North America, Argentina and China.
According to the press release, Hollerado have several more live dates in the works, but for now they're gearing up for a Montreal residency, which will find them playing the city every Saturday in February. In the meantime, "Juliette," the first single from the album, is currently available for download on iTunes.
