Highlander

"Helped Myself"

Atlanta electro-rock outfit Highlander are ready to unleash their sophomore EP Weird Future next week, but Exclaim! is offering up an exclusive taste of the new material with the premiere of "Helped Myself."

Originally the bedroom synth project of Joe Oliver, the band has evolved to include core members Samuel Barksdale (guitar), Joe Martin (bass) and Garrett Goss (drums). Weird Future sees the band toying with influences as wide-ranging as '60s psychedelia and '80s new wave, and "Helped Myself" is a prime example of their freshly honed sound.

Blending retro-rock keyboards with an array of woozy sound effects and Oliver's echo-heavy vocals, it's a modern take on some of rock's groovier predecessors.

Weird Future officially arrives on March 10 via Deer Bear Wolf Records, but you can give it an advanced listen right now, in the player below.
