Vancouver's Heavy Steps have covered a fair amount of ground over the course of their small discography, having tackled art-damaged indie pop on 2012's You, Conduit and dreamy electro sounds on 2014's Trash Object EP. Now, they're dabbling in another new direction with the freshly released album Infinity Rope.

On Infinity Rope, the former duo of Melissa Gregerson and Chris van der Laan have expanded to a five-piece with a full live band. The nine songs that make up this latest LP head into a dark goth-rock direction, with moody keys contrasted against reverb-laced full-band arrangements. "Trash Wednesday" is a peppy garage number, while tunes like "Wait, Watcher" and "Watch Astride a Diabolical Goat" head into more shadowy terrain. There's even some ambient post-rock on bite-sized closer "Clean Yr Hooves / Window Jammer."

Hear it all below. Infinity Rope is out today via Boat Dreams from the Hill, and it's being released in a limited edition of cassettes. It's available on major streaming platforms.
