Hear the Week's Best New Canadian Music: Orville Peck, Charmaine, Andy Shauf

BY Exclaim! StaffPublished Feb 11, 2022

The cutest couples in Canadian music are gearing up to celebrate Valentine's Day, but they're not holding out on love for us listeners, either — consider the week's best new Canadian music your sweet nothings (or sweet somethings) and our playlist as the heart-covered envelope, wrapping it up in a perfectly symmetrical bow.

While counterprotest country-metal gay sex anthem "Ram Ranch" by Grant MacDonald doesn't quite fit the criteria as a new release, we thankfully have the next best thing: the return of Orville Peck with Bronco Chapter 1.

Elsewhere this week, Andy Shauf, the Rural Alberta Advantage and Tallies all delivered twice as nice with double-singles. Kathleen Edwards covered John Lennon, Cadence Weapon got remixed and the likes of Charmaine, Tess Roby and Skiifall dropped big new tunes.

We also had album releases from OMBIIGIZI (Sewn Back Together), Voivod (Synchro Anarchy), Adria Kain, Pretty Archie (self-titled) and Said the Whale's deluxe expansion of Dandelion.

Get into the romantic rhythm and find the rhyme to answer your red roses and blue violets with The Eh! List below, presented by Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters — all Canadian and proud of it!
