We're just under half a year away from the start of this fall's Halifax Pop Explosion, but organizers behind the annual Maritimes music festival have announced the first round of acts attached to the event. Big Canadian names include East Coast pop act Hey Rosetta! and Vancouver-formed punk blazers White Lung.

The 2016 Halifax Pop Explosion Music Festival runs from October 19 to 22, and as in year's past, it will find a number of concerts being spread across various venues throughout Halifax. The first wave of acts also includes Toronto's PUP, folk outfit the Barr Brothers and Mo Kenney, who will be performing with Symphony Nova Scotia.

Beyond music, the Halifax Pop Explosion is also expanding their reach with another year of comedy programming. So far, American comedian Cameron Esposito is the only stand-up to be confirmed for the festival.

Early bird ticketing goes on sale this Friday (May 27), with an all-access wristband being made available for $129. A special, limited time deal bundling the wristband with entry to the upcoming Hal Con sci-fi convention will also be sold at the same price, while quantities last.
