Grouper Returns with 'Grid of Points' LP, Shares "Parking Lot"

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Mar 8, 2018

Liz Harris has announced plans for the next album under her Grouper moniker. Grid of Points will arrive on April 27 via Kranky.

It marks the follow up to 2014's Ruins, though she also released a 7-inch to celebrate the winter solstice back in 2016.

The new songs were composed quickly, simply using piano and voice.

"I wrote these songs over a week and a half; they stopped abruptly when I was interrupted by a high fever," Harris explained in a statement. "Though brief, it is complete. The intimacy and abbreviation of this music allude to an essence that the songs lyrics speak more directly of. The space left after matter has departed, a stage after the characters have gone, the hollow of some central column, missing."

The first track to be unveiled from the forthcoming effort is "Parking Lot." Listen to it below.

As previously reported, Grouper is set to play Calgary's upcoming Sled Island, which takes place June 20 to 24. You can learn more details here.

Grid of Points:

1. The Races
2. Parking Lot
3. Driving
4. Thanksgiving Song
