Most adults don't exactly like children's music, but it serves the clear function of entertaining kids as their early tastes develop. Grimes, however, is here to warn the world of the "insidious artistic scourge" that is tainting children's earliest experiences of music.

Yesterday (May 16), Grimes went off on kids' music on Twitter, writing, "How can we heal as a society when everyone's earliest artistic experience is completely devoid of humanity or beauty? Half joking but kinda not."

She subsequently explained that she has "slowly come to enjoy" the ubiquitous hit "Baby Shark" — although acknowledged that this was due to "incessant exposure," calling the music "propaganda." She noted that her two young kids enjoy music for adults, but hearing kids' music at school got them hooked on it.

Not all children's music is irredeemable, however: Grimes pointed out that she enjoyed Raffi as a kid, and although she hasn't listened lately.

Considering that she is a strong AI advocate, there's a certain irony in her complaining about something being "devoid of humanity," so Grimes must really hate kids' music! Maybe if she finally released her BOOK 1 album, people could play that for their kids? See her tweets below.
