Grimes

"Go"

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Jun 26, 2014

As previously promised, Grimes has premiered her new single today, and as expected, it's the studio version of "Go."

The song had originally been prepped by Grimes and Blood Diamonds for Rihanna, but the pop star turned the single down. Now sung by the artist born Claire Boucher, the tracks makes for one of the generally glossolalia-styled singer's most direct vocal performances. The ballad finds her detailing heartache and broken dreams, sadly letting her crestfallen voice run falsetto for the chorus' "Can I go with you?"

The collaborative soundscape pits weepy keyboards with more squelchy synth work and jittery rhythms, and you can stream the results down below.
