Greys Announce Handmade 'Ultra Sorta' Reissue for Record Store Day

The annual Record Store Day event is gearing up to celebrate its eighth edition on Saturday (April 18). As always, there's a packed list of exclusive releases that span from great to bad. Rather than add to the bottleneck at pressing plants, Toronto post-hardcore act Greys have announced a different plan for the annual shopping day.

As they explain in a press release, the group found some extra copies of their debut 10-inch Ultra Sorta in their practice space. They enlisted the artistic help of their friends Raina Douris, Joel French and Dave Murray, who hand drew new covers for the releases. Now, they'll distribute them between Toronto's record stores.

"We thought 'reissuing' our record like this would be a fun way to focus attention on the hard working indie retailers that bust their asses on all 365 days of the year," the band said in a statement. "Zeppelin and Floyd reissues are cool, but don't forget about the amazing stores, labels and artists that work hard to create an environment in which bands like ours can continue to exist. In the immortal words of Piebald: Hey, you're part of it."

If you plan to seek out a Greys reissue on Record Store Day, the release will be available at Sonic Boom, Rotate This, June Records, Soundscapes, She Said Boom (College Street), Grasshopper, LP's LPs and Good Music. They'll be limited to one copy per store.
