Grateful Dead offshoot Dead & Company's upcoming 2022 tour will be their last, with the final show taking place July 16 at Citifield in New York City, Rolling Stone reports.

UPDATE (4/8, 5:33 p.m. ET): The band may not be done touring after all. Founding member Bob Weir tweeted in response to the report: "News to me..." on Friday (April 8). He has yet to elaborate.

UPDATE (4/8, 6:53 p.m. ET): The band have issued an official statement in response to the Rolling Stone report, writing [via Variety]: "Dead & Company has made no official decision as to this being their final tour."

The group — which features original surviving Grateful Dead members Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Bill Kreutzmann — formed in 2015 (most notably without original bassist Phil Lesh, and, obviously, late frontman Jerry Garcia) following the 50-year celebration of the Grateful Dead, Fare Thee Well. As the story goes, John Mayer guest-hosted The Late Late Show and invited Weir to play with him in the studio, after which the band joined forces.

Dead & Co. were soon rounded out by bassist Oteil Burbridge and former member of Dead-offshoot group Furthur, keyboardist Jeff Chimenti. While the band never released any studio albums, recordings of most of their concerts from 2016 to 2021 have been released via the band's website and on music streaming services.

The band have never come to Canada, and they'll continue that trend on their final tour (dates below).
