Making the cult of Goblin even more confusing, it's been revealed that in addition to the Italian prog band's upcoming Four of a Kind LP, bassist Fabio Pignatelli and drummer Agostino Marangolo side-project Goblin Rebirth will be delivering an LP of their own in 2015.

It was confirmed through a press release earlier today (November 11) that the offshoot have signed to Relapse Records to deliver an as-yet untitled debut album in the spring. Formed in 2010, the band also features keyboardists Aidan Zammit and Danilo Cherni, as well as guitarist Giacomo Anselmi. While early live shows centred on old Goblin tracks, Goblin Rebirth eventually began to write new material, with songs reportedly coming out of lengthy jam sessions.

"It was clear to us from the start that we wanted to do an album that in some way evolved from the original Goblin sound but also took a new direction reflecting the personalities of all the band members," they said in a group statement. "The pieces all fell together to make up a story that loosely describes the destruction and rebirth of a strange creature. This is itself a loose metaphor referring to the band history."

Though a tracklisting has not yet been made available, it's explained the Goblin Rebirth's first full-length offering had the act recording at Rome's Greta's Sound facility, Zamusic Studios and Cherni Studio. Drums were tracked at Trani, Italy's Scuola Sul Mare by by Ciccio "Frums" Dettole.

As previously reported, Pignatelli and Marangolo are also gearing up for recording sessions with fellow Goblin members Massimo Morante and Maurizio Guarini. They're currently running a Pledge Music campaign to fund the project. It'll be their first LP since 2006's Back to the Goblin.
