Glass Towers

'Halcyon Days' (album stream)

Though already a smash hit in their native land, Aussie indie unit Glass Towers' debut LP Halcyon Days officially hits North America tomorrow (June 17) via Dine Alone Records/HUB. Just ahead of the due date, though, you can stream the album in full on Exclaim.ca.

A press release for the LP notes that songwriter/singer Ben Hannam began crafting some of the songs back in his teens prior to starting up the band, with the album weighing in on "the universal struggle faced in the transition from youth to young adulthood." The song cycle balances "sun-drenched melody" with "an undercurrent of darkness and weight," as heard via the blend of sky-reaching guitar work and moody post-punk melodies of "In This City," the dancey jangle of "Jumanji" or the fuzzed-friendly, foot-shuffling title track.

Halcyon Days hit No. 1 on the Australian independent album charts. You can find out why by giving the record a spin in full down below.
