Get the Latest from Kanye West and Jay-Z, Beastie Boys, and Light Fires in Our Click Hear Roundup
Published Jul 25, 2011We at Exclaim! have you covered for your new music fix. Just head over to our Click Hear section, which currently features some star-fuelled hip-hop, an incredibly unexpected cover and the new video from a buzz-worthy Toronto glam pop act, among other things.
In the lead-up to one of the biggest collabs of the year, Kanye West and Jay-Z released a ten-minute video documenting the making of their upcoming album Watch the Throne. Also, West and Jay-Z's combined effort manifested aurally with the release of "Otis." Check it out to see if this tune reaches the new heights that one would expect from this team-up.
Next, Beastie Boys, Santigold and Spike Jonze have joined forces for the video for "Don't Play No Game That I Can't Win," the latest single off the Beastie Boys' most recent album Hot Sauce Committee Part Two. Small, plastic versions of the Beasties are featured in what could double as an extended (and completely watchable) G.I. Joe commercial.
Pusha T also released the video for "Trouble on My Mind." Directed by Jason Goldwatch, it depicts Pusha and collaborator Tyler, the Creator (of Odd Future) up to nihilistic, nonsensical no-good that makes for a decent larf.
In light of all the hype from Watch the Throne, Game targets Jay-Z, Kreayshawn, Tyler, the Creator and more in a diss track that recently dropped. If it's any indication, there hasn't and probably won't be any response to this one from Game's "victims."
And Toronto's Light Fires released their first music video for "Ten Feet Tall." Keep in mind that Regina is the alter-ego of one Gentleman Reg, whereas the other half is James Bunton of Ohbijou.
Finally, New York-based punk/poet/legend Patti Smith covered the inescapable "Rolling in the Deep," originally by Adele. Check out Smith live rendition of the tune now.
