Gang of Four Sell Copies of New Album with Vials of Their Own Blood

Back in April, we received word that post-punk heroes Gang of Four were using the website Pledge Music to help fund their new album, Content. At the time, we reported that the band were offering up various rewards for donations, including a signed guitar, a hand-written lyric sheet and a helicopter ride with the band. Now, Slicing Up Eyeballs points out that the band has begun including vials of their own blood as part of the project.

The blood comes as part of the Ultimate Content Can, which also includes an art book, a book of lyrics, a book of drawings and a CD with a scratch and sniff booklet. Each copy is signed and numbered. The set costs £45 (that's $71.29 Canadian).

Here's the weirdest part: the package is limited to 500 copies. That means that the four band members offered up 500 vials of blood between them. If you're doing the math, that's 125 vials each. Should you want to get your hands on the band members' DNA, there are 442 copies still available as of press time.

Content is due out on January 25 via Yep Roc. It will be their first album in 16 years.
