Gang of Four Prep New Single

Gang of Four may have become a gang of two, but that hasn’t stopped them from releasing their first proper single in 13 years. After the recent departure of bassist Dave Allen and drummer Hugo Burnham, Second Life is set to land sometime in June, Drowned in Sound reports, and will be the first new studio material by the veteran post-punkers since 1995.

If Second Life sounds familiar, it may be because the band late last year digitally released a demo of the track, along with a few other works-in-progress. The time around, though, the track will come with all the proper studio shine, as well as "exclusive remixes by musical contemporaries.” No word yet, however, on who these "contemporaries” are, or if the single will come out via traditional means or if it will adopt some new web-based model, which the band previously talked about. Also, no word on any possible new full-length by Gang of Four, who dropped hints that a new album was on its way back in 2006. However, now minus a bassist and drummer, whatever the band decides to record may come out sounding mighty thin.
