Fucked Up's Star-Studded Christmas Single, Cap'n Jazz's Rumoured Reunion and Sonic Youth's Jam-Packed New-Release Plans Lead This Week's News Round-Up

Christmas may be just around the corner, but that hasn't slowed down Exclaim! news in the slightest. Our weekend round-up is simply teeming with stories, so we're just going to lay them on you.

First off, this week, Fucked Up released their much-anticipated Christmas cover, "Do They Know Its Christmas?," which features guest vocals from the likes of Yo La Tengo, GZA, Ezra Koenig (Vampire Weekend), Bob Mould (Hüsker Dü), Tegan and Sara, Andrew W.K., Kyp Malone (TV on the Radio), David Cross and Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene). On top of that, the band also let us in our their top ten of 2009, which is definitely worth the read.

In less Christmasy news, we had rumours flying that Cap'n Jazz and Owls are reuniting, while Sonic Youth revealed they are gearing up for a new album, a french soundtrack and a DVD. Also, Chet Baker's estate launched a $6 billion class-action lawsuit against the Canadian Recording Industry Association, Flight of the Conchords officially put a stop to their HBO series and Karen O got a Grammy nod thanks to Miley Cyrus.

And while news of White Stripes' extravagant deluxe box set plans may not help you with Christmas shopping, Flaming Lips' Silver Trembling Fetus Ornament surely can.

Oh, and guess which much-loved music star may be starring in The Hobbit?
