In addition to fronting Fucked Up, screamer Damian Abraham has become something of a pop culture personality, and now the hirsute former MuchMusic host also known as Pink Eyes has taken on a new gig: moderating a mayoral debate in Toronto.
The mayoral candidates have been invited to an arts debate on September 29 in Cinema One at the TIFF Bell Lightbox. Candidates Olivia Chow, Ari Goldkind and John Tory have all confirmed that they will be taking part, while incumbent mayor Rob Ford has been invited but hasn't yet said yes.
The ArtsVote debate concerns the city's arts and culture sector, and it will focus on issues like funding and affordable spaces. These are topics that Abraham knows a lot about and presumably has strong opinions on.
Abraham is also an outspoken advocate for medical marijuana, but it doesn't seem that drugs will be a focus for this debate. That's a shame, given Ford's history.
