The Fresh & Onlys' Wymond Miles Announces Sophomore Solo Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 15, 2013

While San Francisco psych rock unit the Fresh & Onlys have their new Soothsayer hitting our ears September 24 via Mexican Summer, guitarist Wymond Miles has his second solo LP on the way as well. Titled Cut Yourself Free, the record arrives October 17 through Sacred Bones

Like last year's Under the Pale Moon, Miles's upcoming nine-song effort was self-produced, but a press release notes that this time around the songs mix his "moonlit romantic swagger" with elements of Nick Cave and Roxy Music. Sonically, "Night Drives" is apparently filled with vintage synth sounds, while lyrically, Miles details a "Jack the Ripper-esque mystery" on "White Nights."

Ahead of the LP's release, Miles will issue a 7-inch promoting album track "Passion Plays," which hosts a cover of Flying Nun group the Terminals' "Batwing" on the flip. The single arrives September 17, but you can stream the A-side down below.

In support of the new record, Miles has several North American dates coming up, including a few in Canada. He will play Toronto on November 19 and Montreal November 20 with Crocodiles.
