Franz Ferdinand Talk To Exclaim! About New Album

As we previously reported, those fashionable Scots in Franz Ferdinand have finally returned with a new album set to drop on January 27. Titled Tonight: Franz Ferdinand, the follow-up to 2005's You Could Have It So Much Better, was produced by Dan Carey, best known for his work with Hot Chip and Lily Allen.

Front-man Alex Kapranos recently spoke to Exclaim! about the new record, telling us that Tonight is "much more of a dance floor record. The drums and the bass guitar, they really lead on a lot of songs; I think the bass is the lead instrument on most of this record.

"I mean our first one was supposed to be a dance record but this one is in a different kind of way. The tempos are a little slower, which makes things heavier, and things swing a bit more. And there are a few different sounds as well, more electronic noises than on the last record."

Check back on Monday (November 3) to read the entire interview with Kapranos, who shares his thoughts on the reunion of his heroes Orange Juice, why working with Xenomania (Girls Aloud, Cher, Pet Shop Boys) didn't work out, and the time he spent living in Canada while producing an album by the Cribs.
