Fool's Gold Co-Founder Nick Catchdubs Reveals LP, Shares Heems-Featuring Single

BY Alex HudsonPublished Feb 26, 2015

Not only did Nick Catchdubs co-found Fool's Gold Records with his buddy A-Trak, he also moonlights as a DJ and beatmaker, and now he's preparing to release his debut album. Smoke Machine will be out via the imprint on April 28.

This announcement follows a couple of prior singles, since he released "Bizness" (featuring IAMSU! & Jay Ant) back in July 2013 followed by "Wuts That" (featuring B.I.C.) last September. Now, he's unveiled another new single from the album: "Full House," which features Heems and Troy Ave. It's a thumping electro-rap track which can be heard below (along with the other singles).

All of those tracks appear on the album. Catchdubs assembled Smoke Machine using leftover pieces from various projects. He said in a statement, "I went out and recorded an album piece by piece, stockpiling vocals (Troy & Heems were recorded — like most of these — in the side room at Rubber Tracks in Brooklyn) until I had 12 records that felt so much like 'me' that they wouldn't fit anywhere else but Smoke Machine."

The album is available to pre-order on iTunes.

Another Fool's Gold boss, Joshua Prince (a.k.a. Dust La Rock), sadly passed away earlier this month.
