Following Florida Georgia Line's prior announcement that they would be going on hiatus, the band played their last show for the foreseeable future on Wednesday (August 31).

The country duo said goodbye to fans at the Minnesota State Fair before embarking on their own respective solo careers. While they've insisted the hiatus is a "break" rather than a full-blown breakup, the band have publicly voiced their disagreeing political alignments triggered by the 2020 US presidential election.

During the election, member Tyler Hubbard and his wife Hayley were vocal about their qualms with Donald Trump, as well as their support of Vice President Kamala Harris. On the contrary, Brian Kelley, the other half of FGL, was hinting about his support of the ex-President on Instagram. This led to Hubbard unfollowing Kelley — and the breakup rumours began to swirl.

"I unfollowed BK for a few days while we were in the middle of this election and everything going on," Hubbard said in 2020 [via Daily Mail]. "And I even called him and told him, I said, 'Hey buddy, I love you. And I love you a lot more in real life than on your Stories right now. That's why I'm unfollowing you. Nothing personal. I still love you. You're still my brother.'"

While performing their final show, Hubbard and Kelley thanked their fans for their success. "You've enabled us to chase this crazy dream of writing songs and playing shows and hoping somebody will show up to listen, so thank you guys," said Hubbard [via Consequence]. "It's very exciting for us to look at what's ahead, see what's next. And the next chapter ahead is very exciting, but we wanna celebrate this chapter with you guys."

Prior to their final performance, Florida Georgia Line performed at Boots and Hearts Festival at the beginning of August.
