He's also announced a tour that includes stops in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver

Flight of the Conchords' Bret McKenzie — who's also written music for the Muppets movies and The Simpsons (including that fake Smiths song from last year) — has announce his debut solo album.

Songs Without Jokes is, as its title suggests, a collection of songs without jokes. It's arriving August 26 on Sub Pop, and was produced by McKenzie and Mickey Petralia. Today, he's also shared a video for lead single "A Little Tune," which you can check out below.

"Post-Conchords, I'd been working on songs for the Muppets films, and during a session I had the thought that it would be fun someday to work on some songs that weren't for someone else, that don't have to tell a story or be funny or continue the narrative plot, checking all the boxes for the character in the movie," McKenzie said in a statement. "I thought it'd be fun to do a record like that, something different."

Alongside the album announcement, McKenzie has also announced a world tour that includes stops in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver. Check out the tour dates, the Songs Without Jokes tracklist and the video for "A Little Tune" below.

Flight of the Conchords have released two studio albums — 2008's Flight of the Conchords and 2009's I Told You I Was Freaky.
