Is Fleet Foxes frontman Robin Pecknold in the studio with Kanye West and Post Malone? It appears so, based on Instagram posts made over the weekend.
YouTuber DJ Akademiks shared a video of Kanye in the studio with Post Malone. In the clip, Post Malone is singing along to Fleet Foxes' 2011 track "The Shrine / An Argument."
Around the same time, Pecknold posted a selfie with Post Malone on his Instagram story [via Stereogum]. So even though there's no footage of Pecknold with Kanye, it appears that Post Malone is the common connection here.
Post Malone is a well-documented Fleet Foxes fan who reportedly almost appeared on the band's 2020 album Shore. Pecknold said in an interview with Radio.com, "He came by the studio for one day while we were working in LA and listened to stuff and was super supportive. We didn't get together in time because I wanted to get the album out quickly, but I did ask him to be on it. He was down but we just didn't end up having time."
Post Malone and Kanye, meanwhile, have each appeared on the other's songs over the years. It remains to be seen if anything comes of this latest meeting with Pecknold.
