Flaming Lips Confirm Bon Iver for Forthcoming Collaborations Comp

We already knew that psych heroes the Flaming Lips have a compilation of collaborations in the works, which they have suggested will be out for Record Store Day 2012 (April 21). Well, hang on to your hats indie rock fans: Lips singer Wayne Coyne has just confirmed that Bon Iver is on board for the project.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, Coyne said that the collaboration is still in the process of coming together, but that it's officially a go. He noted, "All these things happen within a couple of days. You set up these [collaborations] in your mind and immediately get to work."

Of course, we already knew that acts like Death Cab For Cutie, Lightning Bolt, Ghostland Observatory, Neon Indian and Nick Cave were on board with in-the-bag collaborative tracks.

Unsurprisingly, recent BFF Yoko Ono will also appear. "It was better than I could have dreamed of. [Ono] was wonderful and gracious," he said of this latest collaboration. He added that the songs were recorded remotely, as Yoko couldn't make it into the studio. "It would be nerve-wracking to be around as someone as mythologized as a Yoko Ono. What would I say? 'Yoko, could you do that one take again?'"

Coyne is currently trying to convince Ke$ha, Lykke Li, and Erykah Badu to pitch in. But with Bon Iver officially involved, most folks are probably going to buy this either way.
