Though it's been floating around in their live sets since they filled in for the White Stripes at 2003's T In The Park festival, the Flaming Lips have finally readied a version of their famed cover. Released on a seven-inch limited to 1000 copies, the song also features on the band's LateNightTales compilation, along with an assortment of songs they champion. But this will be the tune you'll want to program for repeat listens. Recorded during a gig at London's Hammersmith Apollo, the song is as loopy as you'd expect, with Wayne Coyne singing through his trusty megaphone, only to switch on the siren when his mouth isn't busy. Even more delightful is the decision to alter the lyrics, changing the destination to Florida, where the climate is so much nicer to cut off both your legs. (promo.mudhut.co.uk/Azuli/army.asx)
