Suoni Per Il Popolo is returning to Montreal this year for its 25th edition, bringing another exciting and eclectic mix of Canadian and international artists to Quebec's largest city. From June 19 to 30, witness the festival's commitment to unbounded creativity and groundbreaking experimental art and music.

"LIBÉREZ VOS OREILLES," the festival's website boldly commands. "NO INNOVATION WITHOUT EXPERIMENTATION."

Tickets for the event can be found here. Check out Exclaim!'s recommended must-see acts from the festival below below.

Quinton Barnes
The Montreal-based artist has put out an album almost every year since his full-length debut, Aarupa, in 2020, and this year's CODE NOIR sees Barnes continue to offer up a refined mélange of hip-hop, R&B and pop. His experimentations in sound will take you through moments like the blissful harmonies on "Beau" and warbly rhythms on "Baile2."

Raven Chacon
The 2022 Pulitzer Prize winner (not to mention the first Indigenous American composer to win for music) creates mesmerizing instrumental soundscapes that speak to the US's sociopolitical issues. The Diné artist will be taking the stage at La Sotterenea to join experimental noise group Wolf Eyes for an unforgettable performance.

CHXMERAS
Vancouver's experimental electronic duo curate a gloriously grimy atmosphere with their pulsing bass drums and fluttering synths. They will be performing at the festival fresh off the release of their upcoming EP Second Sight, dropping on June 13.

Lavender Flu
The Portland psych-punk band sounds like a sunny day — perfect to catch as Suoni Per Il Popolo coincides with the first day of summer. Their relaxed vocals meld deliciously with their bright and surfy, and at other times fuzzily distorted, guitars.

Taxi Girls
The Montreal punk band's 2023 debut EP Coming Up Roses blooms with the fierce spirit of '90s riot grrrl. Check out their performance at the festival and feel the energy of their bouncy drums and raw, self-assured vocals.
