Father John Misty started teasing something on his Instagram a few weeks back, posting some cryptic black-and-white videos and images that pointed to new music (and a new haircut).

Today we get something a little more concrete, as fans were recently mailed a super-thin spoken word vinyl by Misty's label Bella Union. Someone uploaded a video of the record being played on Reddit, and in a pitched-down voice it tells the listener:

Available April 8, 2022, on Sub Pop and Bella Union. Father John Misty's new album: Chloe and the Next 20th Century. Get it on vinyl, CD, the other one, uh, cassette. And in beautiful deluxe hardback edition with expanded artwork and much more. Is this real? It is. This is the album. You're listening to it right now. That's nice. Eleven new tracks produced by Jonathan Wilson and Josh Tillman. Chloe and the Next 20th Century. It's technically new.

According to a recent leak from German Amazon, it looked like Chloe and the Next 20th Century would be a double album, but that seems unlikely given that it's only eleven tracks long. Or maybe Tillman is entering his Joanna Newsom era and we're about to get a bunch of nine-minute songs.

Father John Misty's last album was 2018's God's Favorite Customer
