Fanny Bloom, Canailles, Adam & the Amethysts Join Forces for SXSW Showcase

The music world will be turning its eyes on Austin next month, where the annual SXSW festival will bring a massive lineup of bands together for six days of concerts from March 13 to 18 (and that's not including the film portion, which stars on March 9). Exclaim! will be taking part in the fun by co-presenting a show with Dare to Care Records and Planète Québec.

The event gets under way on March 16 at 9 p.m. at Spill Bar in Austin. Almost all of the evening's stellar performers hail from Montreal, including Fanny Bloom (of La Patère Rose), Canailles, Adam & the Amethysts, Automelodi, and Uncle Bad Touch. The only exception is Thus:Owls, who are based largely in Sweden, although guitarist Simon Angell is from Montreal (and a member of Patrick Watson's band).

Despite majority of the band's calling Montreal home, the diverse evening will feature anglophone and francophone artists, and encompass everything from sombre art rock (Thus: Owls) to bubble electro pop (Fanny Bloom) to hillbilly bluegrass (Canailles).

This isn't the only Exclaim!-sponsored event at SXSW. The recently announced Scène 1425 day party on March 17, also at Spill Bar, will feature such acts as Yukon Blonde, Said the Whale and Parlovr.
