Fall Of Serenity

Grey Man's Requiem

BY Greg PrattPublished Jun 1, 2002

Germany's Fall Of Serenity combines the power of hardcore with the crushing sonics of metal in a way that brings to mind other overseas giants such as Jane, Systral or the Year of Our Lord. Fall Of Serenity doesn't dabble in Swedish melodies or progressive grindcore though, instead they single-mindedly offer forth straight-ahead and fast metal-tinged hardcore. A huge production sound amplifies the assault, with the end result being a thoroughly satisfying listen, one that makes up for a lack of originality with aggression and soul. This disc puts most of the current crop of American hardcore bands that are trying to sound heavy to shame.
