Remember when mustachioed multi-instrumentalist Franz Nicolay left the Hold Steady and you and all your friends started a pool, betting on what he would do next? Well, you all lose, unless one of you said he would join Americana-punks Against Me! on tour this summer.
Apparently, Nicolay will join Tom Gabel and co. as they support their forthcoming fifth album, White Crosses, with tours across Europe and North America.
The European tour will kick off May 24 in Munich, Germany, and will take Nicolay and his punk peers across Germany and the UK. He'll then follow Against Me! through a tour of the U.S. with Silversun Pickups, including a stop at Bonnaroo.
In a statement on Against Me!'s website, the band wrote, "We're very happy to welcome Franz Nicolay out on the road with us. Starting with this next run of Europe dates, Franz will be joining us onstage every night and lending his immense talents and presence to the band."
All of the dates featuring Nicolay can be seen at the Against Me! tour page here.
White Crosses is due out June 8 via Sire Records.
