While the age of self-isolation means it's definitely a great time to replace your guitar strings, the manufacturers at Ernie Ball are addressing an even larger problem. They've announced that they'll devote a portion of their California factory to manufacturing COVID-19 face masks.

In a press release [via Guitar Player], the company explained that they will be able to manufacture approximately 400 two-ply cotton masks each day at their Coachella, CA, factory.

"We are dedicating our accessories and strap manufacturing departments to producing masks and are making it a top priority," CEO Brian Ball said. "The Coachella Valley is our home and we want to help both local charities and the residents as well."

The first batches of masks will be donated to the local charity Martha's Village, which specializes in offering food, housing, education and support services to homeless and impoverished families in the Coachella Valley area.

In the future, Ernie Ball plans to make its masks available for free to all Coachella Valley residents. They'll be able to sign up for free online and have a mask delivered to their home.
