After issuing their Christmas set Snow Globe in 2013, synth-pop veterans Erasure have announced that they're melting away the winter holiday theme with a new set of originals that's due this summer. Their 16th full-length studio effort, The Violet Flame, will be issued August 23 in North America, and a day earlier overseas via Mute.
A press release explains that the album, their first all-originals LP since 2011's Tomorrow's World, had vocalist Andy Bell and multi-instrumentalist Vince Clarke working with producer Richard X in New York and London. While a tracklisting has not yet appeared, 10 songs are expected to appear on the album. A single is set to pop up in July.
For now, you can hear a bit of new music in a trailer promoting both the LP and an upcoming world tour. You'll hear house rhythms, synth squiggles and Bell's tender, textured tenor in the video down below.
As for the tour dates, the duo have dates across Europe and North America booked between August and October. The 58-date schedule lands them in Canada once, where they'll take the stage of Toronto's Danforth Music Hall on September 30.
