Country legend Emmylou Harris is about to hit the road with Rodney Crowell in support of their duets albums, Old Yellow Moon, but first she'll have to wage a legal battle, having just been charged with an alleged hit-and-run.
TMZ reports that the incident occurred on October 1 in Oregon. Harris reportedly crashed her rental car into the back of another vehicle on the Interstate 405 freeway at around 10 p.m. before driving off. The other driver subsequently filed a report.
A representative for Emmylou acknowledged that she had been in a "minor" accident, but claimed that this was a "garden-variety accident that happens every day on the 405." The rep said that Harris "unintentionally rubbed bumpers" with another vehicle and left the scene because she didn't know the cars had made contact.
The misdemeanor charge was filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney. We'll have to stay tuned to see if this case hinders her tour plans. See her live schedule here.
