Elvis Costello to Bring Back Spinning Songbook Tour for North American Trek

BY Alex HudsonPublished Dec 5, 2011

Elvis Costello recently told us that we shouldn't buy his new live box set, which he said was so expensive that "the price appears to be either a misprint or a satire." Luckily, audiences will soon have a chance to see the show in person, since the rock icon and his band the Imposters will be bringing their Spinning Songbook Tour across North America in the spring.

The current schedule is relatively modest, as it includes just seven dates, all within the month of April. In addition to six U.S. shows, Costello will be performing in his adopted home of Vancouver on April 10.

The Spinning Songbook Tour is so named because it features a massive game show-style wheel that includes the names of songs from Costello's back catalogue. Fans are invited on stage to spin the wheel, creating new set lists for each gig. In 2011, the band played over 200 different songs live.

Expect more shows to be announced soon. In the meantime, the current schedule is below. Tickets for the Vancouver date will go on sale on Friday (December 9) through Ticketmaster.

Tour dates:

4/10 Vancouver, BC - Orpheum
4/17 Los Angeles, CA - The Wiltern
4/23 Melbourne, FL - King Center
4/24 Clearwater, FL - Ruth Eckerd Hall
4/25 Hollywood, FL - Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino
4/27 Jacksonville, FL - Florida Theatre
4/29 Durham, NC - Durham Performing Arts Center
