Elon Musk Consulted Grimes and Kanye West About Building His Own Town in Texas

Nightmare fuel of the highest order

If you're currently trying to decide where to move and are looking for another addition to the ABSOLUTELY NOT HERE column, may we present Elon Musk's "Texas utopia," Snailbrook.

As reported by the Wall Street Journal, Musk has acquired at least 3,500 acres of land outside Austin, TX, where he plans to build "a sort of Texas utopia along the Colorado River, where his employees could live and work."

Musk apparently consulted Grimes and Kanye West on the project, bringing in Kanye's architectural designer to discuss ideas for the city's look and create some mock-ups. If I want anyone in charge of building a city where everything goes smoothly and nothing blows up, it's those three for sure.

According to the report, none of those plans have come to fruition yet, but it suggests that Musk is in a hurry to get things moving, reportedly seeking quick-turnaround approval from local governments and requesting that those who sold him land sign non-disclosure agreements. Musk's tunnelling company Boring Co. is planning to incorporate the town in Bastrop County, which would allow Musk to set regulations in his town and expedite his plans.

Snailbrook — named for Boring Co.'s mascot — will still need to hold an election to decide its mayor, which will surely introduce the world to some of the strangest people it's ever seen.
