After spending the first half of the decade breaking through, EKKSTACY has returned home for his fourth album. FOREVER arrives today via UnitedMasters / Dine Alone, and sees the Vancouver artist pivot head-on into emo territory.
Unlike his past works, FOREVER was written "sober-ish" and in love. These newfound revelations matched his change in taste. "I just stopped liking the indie stuff that I was listening to and I just got more into emo," EKKSTACY said in a press release.
He cites his hometown heroes Japandroids as a major influence over FOREVER, which is fitting since the way it was produced was a first for him. He told Exclaim! that he "needed to make a full-band record," which bolstered him creatively into songs with more vulnerable vocals and guitars at the forefront.
