Not to be outdone by their Albertan neighbours' X-Fest, organizers behind Edmonton's Sonic Boom Festival have revealed that they too will be celebrating the Labour Day Weekend with the likes of Jack White, Tegan and Sara, Arctic Monkeys, Death Cab for Cutie and more. Just on different days, that's all.

This year's Sonic Boom fest runs August 29-31 at Edmonton's Northlands, with the lineup looking similar to Calgary's X-Fest. That said, an extra day of concert activity means a few more acts will be making their way through Edmonton, including Chicago political punks Rise Against, Canadian-bred power pop crew the New Pornographers, newbie Cancon supergroup Mounties, and California melodic hardcore vets the Descendents.

Also appearing throughout the three-day fest are Foster the People, Fitz & the Tantrums, Serena Ryder, Stars, the Airborne Toxic Event, Cage the Elephant, MS MR, July Talk, the Mowgli's, Dear Rouge and Sleeper Agent. More artist announcements are expected to be revealed in the coming weeks.

Tickets for the rain-or-shine outdoor event go on sale this Saturday (May 3) at 10 a.m. local time, with a general admission pass costing $199.50. A VIP pass, which yields access to perks like private washrooms and food service, will be available for $296.50.
